AUROR'S OFFICE TIPS

The newly appointed Aurors in the Ministry, a word of advice for you. I have been the Head of Aurors office in the past, at a time when Dark Arts were common. It was the period right after the fall of the Dark Lord Voldemort. Though Voldemort was vanquished by the boy-who-lived 'Harry Potter', his followers were still a group to reckon with. The new minister, Kingsley Shacklebolt appointed me as the Head of the Auror department. Until then, I had been a senior Auror, having spent more of my life on the field than at my office. I was able to achieve satisfactory results in my period as Head, mostly due to the efficient and brilliant Aurors under me at that time, some of them being Seamus Finnigan, Susan Bones, Cho Chang, and many others. As time passed and the number of dark wizards came down, I resigned my post and came to teach at Hogwarts. So I wish to pass on a few helpful hints to the next generation. I hope these pointers will no doubt, be helpful and sometimes, save your life in the field. Being an Auror is indeed, a dangerous job.

1. NEVER let down your guard. Even if something seems harmless, it could be potentially dangerous. If you aren't sure, stun it first before dealing with it.

2. Always call for backup when you notice something odd. Don't try being a hero in such a situation, you might end up under a tombstone.

3. NEVER turn your back on an adversary. DON'T fall for tricks.

4. Maintain constant eye contact with your enemy.

5. Teamwork is essential in group assignments. Cover your partner and make sure he covers your back. Sometimes, even if both wizards are exceptionally good, lack of teamwork can prove fatal.

6. After defeating someone in a duel, be sure to take their wand. As a precaution, cast an Anti-Apparition jinx around him.

7. If you notice anything suspicious in a supposedly uninhabited area, cast Homoneum Revelio just to make sure there isn't someone lurking about.

8. Always keep your wand at the ready.

9. Be careful about dark areas, use Lumos. If you suspect something, stun first, then check.

10. If you are forced to use magic in the presence of a muggle,  remember to obliviate him later.

11. Remember to contact your team every now and then. Don't go off solo on some adventure.

12. It's better to be careful and live than to be careless and die.

13. Always remember, two is better than one, but too many cooks spoil the broth. Have a partner with you whom you're comfortable with, who can work in tandem with you.

14. Always listen to senior members in the office. Experience can teach a lot of things that books cannot.

15. Don't forget to remember all the above instructions.
